Calvary Over Furies Girls (1/24)

The FCDS girls’ varsity basketball team hosted rival Calvary Baptist Day School, Tuesday night in the Childress Athletic Center. The Furies held a 26-21 halftime lead and were relentless in the third quarter as well, holding onto the lead at 41-40, despite hot shooting by the CBDS guards. Haleigh Hadfield and Jenny Temas hit the boards hard and Farrahn Wood led the team from the point guard position all game long, creating plays for the inside post players. However, the fourth quarter belonged to the hot shooting visitors who took the lead midway through that period and held on for a 64-58 final score. The Furies' effort was led by high scorers Hadfield with 18 and Temas with 15. Wood hit key free throws down the stretch and ended with nine points. Ella Oakley contributed eight points and six blocked shots.
