Furies Boys Over Cary Chargers (2/16)

On Senior Night in the Childress Activities Center, FCDS took on the Chargers from Cary Academy and prevailed 82-54.  Senior forward Nick Sink led the Furies with 19 points, while seniors Corey Gallisdorfer and George Massoda added 13 points apiece.  Tyler Lewis chipped in with 10 points and senior guard John Hewell scored a season high eight points for FCDS.  With the win, FCDS improves to 20-6 on the season and will face nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy in the at home on Wednesday evening!  Game time is 7:00.

Fury Boys Take Wesleyan (2/11)

The FCDS varsity boys’ basketball team travelled to High Point Thursday night to take on PACIS rival Wesleyan on their Senior Night. The Trojans jumped out to an early 12-5 lead but the Furies were able to cut the deficit to four at 14-10 by the end of the first period. FCDS found it’s stride in the second quarter and used a 21-6 run to take a 31-25 advantage into the locker room at the half. After the Trojans’ Senior Night halftime festivities, the Furies were able to push the lead to as many as fourteen points and the team then held on for a 62-53 victory. Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 24 points and dished out nine assists, while Nick Sink poured in 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Leek Leek led Wesleyan with 19 points while Will Coble added 11. With the win, FCDS improves to 19-6 overall and finishes the PACIS regular season as conference champions with a record of 4-0. Furies Boys Take Greensboro Day in 3rd Overtime (2/4)

Tyler Lewis scored 12 of FCDS's 14 points in the three overtimes, including three game tying field goals in regulation and the first two overtimes. Lewis sank two free throws with six seconds left and Nick Sink grabbed the game winning rebound as FCDS clinched the PACIS conference championship with a 68-66 win. Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 32 points and Nick Sink added 11 points and 11 huge rebounds! Tyler Alberts added 12 points for the Furies. Furies Boys Take Providence Day (1/26)

FCDS opened up the game on a 23-9 run, but Providence Day stormed back and cut the lead to five.  With good pressure defense and timely shooting, the Furies were able to stretch the lead back to 14 and held on for the 74-62 win.  Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 23 points and nine assists.  Corey Gallisdorfer poured in 16 points, while Tyler Alberts and Brandon Goodson added 12 and 10 points respectively.  Connor Sullivan led PD with 19 points.  With the win, FCDS improves to 17-6 on the season and will face nationally ranked Christ School in Arden on Friday.

Furies Boys Take Wesleyan 95-59 (1/22)

FCDS used a 12-0 run en route to a 51-31 halftime lead. The Furies knocked in 11 three point field goals in the contest and cruised to a 95-59 PACIS 3A Conference win over Wesleyan in Lewisville. Nick Sink led five Furies in double figures with 18 points (four three pointers), while Tyler Lewis poured 14 points and a school record 18 assists. Brandon Goodson drained four three-pointers for 12 points, while Corery Gallisdorfer and Tyler Alberts chipped in 10 points each for FCDS. FCDS improves to 16-6 on the season and returns to action on Tuesday at home versus Providence Day.

Furies Boys Over West Stokes (1/20)

The FCDS boys' varsity basketball team overcame a 13 point halftime deficit and defeated West Stokes 61-57. Tyler Lewis led the Furies with 18 points and Jack Young scored 17 in his first career start.  George Massoda added 10 points for Forsyth.  With the win, FCDS improves to 15-6 and will host PACIS rival Wesleyan this Friday night.

Furies Boys Over Ragsdale

FCDS used a 23-10 run in the second quarter to pull away from Ragsdale in the MLK Scholastic Classic at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.  FCDS pushed the lead to 23 points in the third quarter and cruised to a 76-65 win.

Tyler Lewis led the Furies with 22 points and 13 assists.  Nick Sink added 16 points and Corey Gallisdorfer chipped in with 12 points.  FCDS improves to 14-6 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday Night at West Stokes.

Furies Boys Run Over Durham Academy (1/12)

FCDS opened the game on an 8-2 run and held Durham Academy to 14 first-half points en route to an 81-42 victory. 

Nick Sink and Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 16 points each. Lewis also added six assists.  Jack Young hit three 3-pointers to contribute nine points, while George Massoda and Tyler Alberts chipped in eight points.  With the win, the Furies improve to 12-6 on the season and will host rival Greensboro Day on Friday Night.

Ravens Over Furies Boys 74-70 (1/8)

On Friday night in the Childress Center, FCDS took on the Ravens of Ravenscroft.  FCDS jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game but Ravenscroft stormed back to outscore the Furies 34-17 during the rest of the half.  The third quarter was a back and forth affair and the Ravens held a 48-35 lead at the end of that period.  In the fourth quarter, FCDS finally came to life and erupted for 35, but the team came up just a bit short.  Ravenscroft hit three out of four free throws in the final 30 seconds to secure the final victory 74-70. 

Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 21 points, Corey Gallisdorfer scored 14, and Nick Sink chipped in 13.  With the loss, FCDS falls to 11-6 on the season and will return to action Tuesday night when they host Durham Academy.

Tyler Lewis led four FCDS scorers in double figures with 19 points, as the Furies cruised to a 79-46 win at Charlotte Country Day.  Jack Young scored a season-high 13 points, while Nick Sink and Brandon Goodson both chipped in with 10 points.  B. United Faith Over Furies Boys (12/28)

In the quarterfinals of the GSK Tourney in Raleigh, United Faith scored 30 points in the first quarter and held on the defeat FCDS 68-56. FCDS was able to cut the deficit to 45-38, but was unable to get any closer. FCDS falls to 10-4 and will face West Charlotte tomorrow in the consolation round. Nick Sink led the Furies with 20 points and 7 rebounds, while Tyler Lewis added 13 points and 6 assists. Paris Roberts led United Faith with 21 points.

Furies Over Carver in Shootout (12/22)

On the second day of the CiCi’s Pizza Shootout at NW Guilford, the FCDS Furies took on the Yellow Jackets of Carver. Carver used a deliberate style of play in the 1st quarter and jumped out to a 12-7 lead. In the second period, FCDS turned up the defensive pressure and outscored Carver 27-7 to take a 34-19 lead. The third quarter was much of the same as the Furies kept the pressure on and cruised to a 66-38 victory. Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 20 points (14 in the second quarter) and 9 assists. Nick Sink added 13 points, while George Massoda chipped in a hard working nine points and 11 rebounds. Corey Gallisdorfer also added nine points for the Furies. Richard Daniels led Carver with 10 points. FCDS improves to 10-3 on the season and will face, defending NCISAA 1A state champion, United Faith in next week’s GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational in Raleigh.

Furies Boys Take the Pirates (12/21)

In the CiCi's Pizza Shootout at NW Guilford, FCDS took on the Pirates of Page. The first half was a back and forth affair, but Page was able to open up a small lead at 39-35 at the half. FCDS came out of the locker room with a sense of urgency in the third quarter and was able to open up a 45-40 advantage. But the lead was short lived as Page pulled ahead 55-53. With the game tied at 68 with 16.8 seconds to play, FCDS's Tyler Lewis found Tyler Alberts on a dive cut for the game winning basket. FCDS prevailed 70-68. Tyler Alberts led FCDS with 16 points, including 14 in the second half. Tyler Lewis ran the Fury attack and contributed 15 points and 10 assists. Furies Boys Take Charlotte Latin 78-51 (12/11)

FCDS traveled to Charlotte on Friday night and took on the Hawks of Charlotte Latin in boys' varsity basketball.  The game began as a see-saw battle with the Furies taking a slim 15-11 lead after the first period. Behind three Brandon Goodson second quarter threes, the Furies were able to extend the lead to 35-25 at the half.  After the break, FCDS used a 13-0 run to take a 48-25 lead and cruised to the 78-51 victory.

Tyler Lewis led the Furies with 21 points and 12 assists and Brandon Goodson added 20, including six three-pointers.  Richard Brown led Latin with 15 points.  With the win, FCDS improves to 8-3.  The team's next game will be Friday when the they travel to Mouth of Wilson, Virginia to take on nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy.

Corey Gallisdorfer hit two free throws with five seconds remaining in overtime to lift the varsity boys' basketball team past Northwest Guilford on Saturday afternoon. Gallisdorfer led FCDS with 23 points, including eight in the overtime period.  Tyler Lewis and Brandon Goodson added 19 points each for the Furies and Tyler Alberts chipped in with 11. Kyle Vebber led the Vikings with 29 points while teammate Hunter Clary added 20.  FCDS improves to 6-3 on the season and will resume action on Tuesday when they host an Australian Club Team at 7:30 p.m.

Furies Boys Take Calvary 74-34 (12/1)

On Tuesday night, FCDS took on arch-rival Calvary Baptist in a varsity boys' basketball game.  FCDS was eager to take the court against the Cougars because this was the first time this season that all fourteen of the Fury players were available to participate in a game together.  Each of those fourteen players would end up scoring in the game and each of them made a positive impact on the final result.  Forsyth opened the game with a 26-1 run and cruised on to a 74-34 win.  The Furies improved to 5-2 on the season and Calvary fell to 1-5.  The team will return to action on Friday when they host NCISAA 3A foe Charlotte Christian at 8:00 p.m. in the Childress Activities Center, as part of the 5th annual Mercedes-Benz Basketball Showcase.

Riverside Over Furies Boys (11/28)

FCDS traveled to Durham on Saturday afternoon to take on the Riverside Pirates as part of the Southern Durham Thanksgiving Classic.  Both teams began the 1st quarter hot from the outside, but FCDS held a slight 17-16 lead at the end of the period. In the second period, Riverside continued their hot streak and outscored the Furies by 10 to take a 36-27 lead into the locker room.  In the third quarter, FCDS cut the lead to six, but was unable to get any closer and Riverside used a barrage of three pointers to push out in front and prevail 77-59. Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 24 points and Brandon Goodson added 13.  TJ Warren led Riverside with 23 points.  Mike Mayer and Sean Deniton added 14 points each and Jarod Belvin chipped in 13.  FCDS falls at 4-2 and resumes action on Tuesday at home vs. arch-rival Calvary.

Furies Boys Take Waccamaw Warriors (11/24)

FCDS traveled to Whiteville, NC on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Waccamaw Academy Warriors. The Furies opened the game with a 22-6 run in the first quarter and took a 41-25 lead at the half. After a sluggish start to the third quarter, FCDS went on a 16-0 run and cruised to a  68-45 victory.

Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 17 points and Brandon Goodson added 16 points. George Massoda also chipped in 14 points for the Furies. Anthony Williams led Waccamaw with 14 points. With the win, the Furies improve to 4-1 on the season. FCDS will resume action on Saturday in the Southern Durham Thanksgiving Classic versus Riverside at 2:30 p.m.

Furies Boys Take Cougars (11/17)

The FCDS boys’ varsity basketball team took on the Cougars of High Point Christian Tuesday night in the team’s home opener.  The Furies jumped out of the gate with full court pressure and were able to take an 18-4 lead.  HPCA made a bit of a run but FCDS fought back and led 24-13 after the first period.  In the second quarter, the Furies continued to apply pressure and outscored the Cougars by seven points, taking a 44-25 lead at the half.  In the second half, the Cougars used pressure defense of their own and patient offense to cut into the Fury lead.  HPCA chipped away and cut their deficit to as few as eight points on two separate occassions in the fourth quarter.  Late in the final stanza, FCDS regained it’s stride and pulled away to an 87-72 victory. 

Tyler Lewis paced the Furies with 21 points and Brandon Goodson added 15 points.  In his first career start, Bo Smith chipped in with 13 points and Jack Young contributed 10.  Matt Loftus led HPCA with 14 points, Jordan Nix-Denmark added 13 and Brandon Earnhardt scored 10.  The Furies improve to 2-1 on the season and will return to action Friday when they host Greensboro Home School at 5:30 p.m.

Furies Take Spartanburg Day in Calvary Consolation (11/14)

In the consolation game of the Calvary Tip-Off Tournament, FCDS faced off against the Griffins of Spartanburg Day.  SDS came out of the gate hot and hit their first five shots of the game.  FCDS was able to substain the run by putting pressure on the Griffins offensively.  The two teams traded baskets throughout the quarter and FCDS held a slight 22-20 lead after the first quarter.  In the second period, the Furies used their pressure man-to-man defense and went on an 18-6 run to take a 40-26 advantage into the locker room.  The Furies came out after the half and kept the pressure on, going on an 18-8 run and cruising to their first victory of the young season, by a final score of 77-51.  All 10 of the Furies scored in the contest led by Tyler Lewis with 27 points.  Corey Gallisdorfer added 14 points, while George Massoda chipped in 10.  James Hamilton and Bucky Mabry led Spartanburg Day with 14 points each. FCDS returns to action on Tuesday when they host High Point Christian at 7:00 p.m. in the Childress Activities Center!

Flora MacDonald 1-Ups Furies Boys in Opener (11/13)

In the opening round of the Calvary Tip-Off Tournament, the Fury varsity boys’ basketball team faced off against Flora MacDonald Academy.  FCDS jumped out to an early eight point lead but FMA made a charge and took an 11 point lead in the second quarter.  FCDS fought back and cut the deficit to two points at halftime (40-42).  Each team scored 18 points in the third quarter and FMA still led by two points.  In the final stanza, FMA hit three consecutive three pointers and went ahead by 11 points with a little over four minutes remaining.  FCDS showed a lot of heart and chipped away at the lead with their pressure defense.  Sophomore Tyler Lewis nailed a three pointer with less than a minute remaining in the game to cut the lead to one. Trailing by one with 27 seconds remaining, FCDS forward Tyler Alberts stepped to the line and knocked down two free throws to give FCDS an 83-82 lead.  FMA attacked the FCDS zone defense but missed the shot.  Both teams battled for the rebound above the rim and FMA was able to tip it in with 12 seconds left.  FCDS was able to get off a final three point shot at the buzzer but it fell a little short and FMA prevailed 84-83. 

Tyler Lewis led FCDS with 35 points and Tyler Alberts added 12.  Corey Gallisdorfer and George Massoda chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. FMA's Luke Cothron, a NC State recruit, led all scorers with 42 points.  J. Seagears added 17 and A. Gentry added 12 for FMA. FCDS will play either Calvary or Spartanburg Day on Saturday in the consolation game at 11:30am.
