Gordon competed for the Furies in soccer, track & field, and basketball. He played soccer for 4 years and served as a team captain as a senior. A feared left wing, he was a 3x PACIS All-Conference player. Gordon was a member of the school’s first state championship soccer team in 1979.
In track, Gordon competed for 5 years. He was a PACIS champion in various relays, the high jump (3x), long jump (3x) as well as 200m and 100m champion his senior year. Gordon won every event he entered at the PACIS meet during his senior year, setting school records in the high jump and long jump that stood for many years. Additionally, he was a 2x NCISAA state champion in the high jump as well as once in the long jump. A team captain during his junior and senior years, Gordon was also a two-time team MVP.
Gordon’s impressive athletic accomplishments continued in basketball. He played guard for 3 years on the varsity team. He was the leading scorer for three years as well as a team captain and the MVP for his junior and senior years. The teams he played on won 2 conference championships, 3 PACIS tournament championships, and finished as the NCISAA Runner-up during his sophomore year. Gordon was:

All-Tournament Team on 9 separate occasions
Tournament MVP in 3 different tournaments
2x NCISAA All-State team
Gordon garnered recognitions from the local newspapers, whose teams included both public and private schools:

2x Winston-Salem Journal All Northwest
3x Winston-Salem Sentinel All City (first player ever selected All City 3 years)
2x Winston-Salem City Scoring Champion
Upon Graduation, Gordon held all offensive records for the school. He remains the All-time Leading Scorer in Boy's Basketball with 1736 points, which is 200 points than the next Fury cager.
Gordon’s prowess in basketball attracted the attention of the ACC. He was part of Mike Krzyzewski’s 1st recruiting class at Duke University. After 2 years at Duke, Gordon transferred to Greensboro College before suffering a career ending injury.
Today, Gordon is the owner and operator of Weatherbury Station Farm in Tazewell, VA.
