Stewart Beason ‘81

Soccer, Track & Field
Inducted by his soccer coach, Mr. John Danforth

Stewart was an outstanding goalie on FCDS soccer teams during the late '70s and early '80s.  He was a model of consistency in the goal who made difficult saves look easy.
Teammates considered Stewart a dedicated, intense and tough competitor who could always be counted on to make the necessary save, be it a penalty stop or a save in open play.

In 1980, when Stewart was one of the tri-captains, the team only allowed 12 goals in 22 games.
He holds school records for:

most shutouts in a career (37)
most shutouts in a season (15)
most consecutive shutouts (9).

He was named to the NSCA All-South team his senior year and was named to the PACIS All-Conference and NCISAA All-State teams in each of the 1979 and 1980 campaigns.

In addition to the accolades he earned as a stellar goalie, Stewart also participated on the Track & Field team, competing in the high jump and various relays.
