Tim Cooper ‘79

Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Track & Field

Tim was a multi-sport star at FCDS, who lettered in soccer, basketball, baseball and track.  He held numerous state, PACIS and school track records (100 yd, 440 yd). 

While excelling in all of his athletic endeavors, Tim left an indelible mark upon the soccer field.  His teammates have praised his speed and toughness. When Tim graduated, they emphatically say that they all tried to live up to the very high standards he set:

Tim was PACIS All-Conference in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
He made the NCISAA All-State soccer team in 1977 and 1978.
He finished his career as the second all-time single-season goal scorer with 37.
Tim was a Parade All-American in 1978 as well as a National Soccer Coaches of America All-American.  These honors made him FCDS’s first All-American in any sport.
Finally, he was named the Most Outstanding Athlete at FCDS in 1979.

In addition, to his athletic leadership, Tim was president of the student government his senior year.

Tim went on to play soccer for two years at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Today, Tim is the General Manager of Mercedes-Benz of Winston-Salem.  He is also the father of FCDS alums Bobby (Class of 2006) and Stewart (Class of 2008), and 9th Grader Timmy Cooper.
