Fury Athletic Hall of Fame
Purpose
The Fury Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes members of the Forsyth Country Day School family who have distinguished themselves as outstanding contributors to Fury athletics, demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and character, and established high standards of excellence in athletic achievement.
Governance
- The FAHOF is governed by a nine-member Selection Board, composed of the standing committee (the Athletic Director [or designated substitute], Director of Alumni Affairs, two members to the Alumni Board, two faculty members) and three at-large members determined by the standing committee.
- The responsibilities of the Selection Board shall be as follows:
- Attend the regular scheduled selection meeting (members may vote in absentia in special circumstances)
- Fairly evaluate the nominees and supporting materials
- Approve only those individuals who have had significant and/or long-term contributions or athletic accomplishments at FCDS and/or after graduation
- Evaluate and update the policies and operating procedures of the FAHOF
- Keep all discussions and actions of the Selection Board confidential
Criteria for Selection
Categories
- Athlete
- Coach
- Contributor: an individual who has rendered outstanding service to the interscholastic athletic program at Forsyth Country Day School other than coaching and participating.
Requirements
- Athlete:
- Must be out of high school for at least five years and;
- Must have demonstrated excellent athletic achievement, defined by but not limited to earning All-State and/or All- American status while at FCDS and/or;
- Must have had collegiate and/or professional participation
- Coach:
- If not currently in the employ of the school, must have served FCDS athletics for a minimum of five years;
- If currently in the employ of the school, must have served FCDS athletics for a minimum of 20 years.
- Contributor:
- Outstanding service other than participation on or coaching of FCDS teams.
Nomination and Approval Process
- Anyone in the FCDS family (current faculty/staff/parent/student, alumni/ae, former faculty/staff) may nominate an individual for the FAHOF by submitting (e-mail/postal) the Nomination Form and relevant supporting materials for the candidate.
- All forms and materials must be submitted to the Selection Board before October 1 of the school year in which the election occurs.
- At the selection meeting, all supporting materials will be made available for the committee to review. Once all questions and concerns have been addressed, a written vote will take place. For a candidate to be selected, he/she must receive a minimum of 2/3 vote. (Should a committee member be a nominee, he/she may not vote for him/herself. Members may vote for the other candidates under consideration.)
- After the first year, the Selection Board will consider the induction of two-four candidates annually.
