FCDS vs. Greensboro Day School (4-29)
The No. 5 FCDS Softball Team put on a clinic Tuesday afternoon as they collected seven hits and scored 15 runs in a three inning 15-0 win over Greensboro Day School to sweep GDS for the season.
Taylor Duggins pitched the complete game, allowing only two walks and striking out eight. Sophomore Addison Sutton hit a double and Duggins hit another double to lead the Ladies Furies to a victory.
Mary Ann Sane, Annie Dillon, Katie Contento, Chelsea Beard, Amy Lewis, Sutton and Duggins all went 1-3.
The Furies will take to the diamond again next week when they play High Point Wesleyan Monday May 5th at 6:00 at the Sutton Softball Field.
FCDS vs. Wesleyan (4-25)
High Point, North Carolina—A 4-0 win against HP Wesleyan capped an undefeated week for the Fury softball team. FCDS now improves to 8-4 and #5 in the state.
Chelsea Beard moved her record to 7-3 on the season, pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts and giving up only one hit. Emma Blumstein paced Forsyth at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double.
After three and a half scoreless innings, Forsyth put the first three runs of the game on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Annie Dillon, Blumstein and Kathryn Henderson each scored to make it 3-0.
Katie Contento, Taylor Duggins, Emilie Mademann, and Blumstein all went 1-for-3 to lead the Furies to a victory.
Fury Softball Team Tops Charlotte Country Day (4/17)
The Forsyth Country Day softball team (7-4) pounded out eight hits en route to a 9-0 win over Charlotte Country Day School (2-8) Thursday afternoon at Sutton Softball Field. Senior Emilie Mademann ( 1 RBI; 1 run scored) , sophomore Chelsea Beard (2 RBI’S) and freshman Taylor Duggins (1 double; 1 run scored) had two hits apiece, while senior Katie Contento (2 runs scored) and eighth grader Annie Dillon ( 1 RBI; 1 run scored) each had a single. FCDS grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back. Sophomore Chelsea Beard got through seven innings for her sixth pitching win of the season. Beard, who is now 6-4, allowed just one run on two hits while walking one and striking out ten. Forsyth Country Day will travel to Cary, North Carolina on Tuesday April 22 to play Cary Academy. That game is scheduled for a start time of 4:30.
Furies Beat Greensboro Day in Softball (4/15)
Four Furies had at least one hit , including eighth grader Annie Dillon who hit her first double of the season. Freshman Taylor Duggins pitched a no-hitter in her first game on the mound this season. Duggins struck out seven GDS batters in the effort as the Furies shut out the Bengals 16-0 in three innings. The game was played at Greensboro Day. Senior Kathryn Henderson, sophomore Chelsea Beard 1-3, Duggins, and Dillon each went 1-3 in the game and each also scored two runs and had at least 2 stolen bases. The Furies who also beat First Assembly on Saturday 8-3 improve to 6-4 with the win over Greensboro. The Furies resume action on Thursday at Sutton Softball Field, facing a tough Charlotte Country Day School at 5:00 p.m.
FCDS vs. First Assembly Concord (4-12-08 )
The Forsyth Country Day School softball team ( 5-4 ) defeated First Assembly – Concord 8-3 in a rainy Saturday morning contest. FCDS pitcher Chelsea Beard ( 5-4 ) led the Furies to the win. She threw all 7 innings and struck out 9 batters. Four players for FCDS recorded hits in the victory. Sophomore Chelsea Beard went 3-3 with 3 singles; eighth grader Annie Dillon was 1-3 with a single; sophomore Emma Blumstein was 1-3 with a perfect bunt, and senior captain Katie Contento went 1-3 with a single to right field. The Furies will continue action April 15th when the team heads to Greensboro to play GDS in a 5:00 start.
FCDS vs. Cannon School (4-11-08 )
The FCDS Softball team could not shake off a slow start against Cannon School and lost 10-0. As a team, the Furies totaled just two hits in the loss, while allowing eight hits to Cannon School. Eight errors also proved costly in the loss as the Furies allowed six of Cannon’s runs were unearned. Two FCDS players recorded one hit each: sophomore Addison Sutton hit a double to left field and sophomore Chelsea Beard hit a single to center field.
Furies Softball Falls to Providence (4/8)
The Furies softball team fell 9-3 to Providence day yesterday in Charlotte. Forsyth struggled from the plate and had only 2 hits for the day. Addison Sutton was 1-3 from the plate with a single to center field and Emilie Mademann was 1-3 from the plate with a triple. FCDS led 3-1 in the 3rd inning then went on to commit 9 errors for the afternoon and Providence Day took full advantage of them. Forsyth will continue action at the Sutton Softball Field Friday April 11 at 4:00 against Cannon School.
Furies Softball Zips Victory Christian (3/18)
We defeated Victory Christian March 18 15-0 in 4 innings. Leading hitters were Katie Contento; 2-4 with a homerun and a single; Taylor Duggins 2-4 with 2 singles and 2 walks and Chelsea Beard with a double and the game winning RBI. Beard and Amy Lewis were the winning pitcher and catcher. Our current record is 3-2. We play tomorrow March 20, 2008 against High Point Christian Academy at Sutton Softball Field.
Our first conference game will be April 15 vs. Greensboro Day School.
Furies Softball at Rock Hill (3/15)
On Saturday March 15 we traveled to Rock Hill SC and defeated Lewisville SC 3-0. Leading hitters were Taylor Duggins 2-4 with a triple and a single; and Chelsea Beard with a double. Beard and Amy Lewis were the winning pitcher and catcher. The remaining 2 games were cancelled because of the severe storms.
