Furies Tennis Takes Calvary (10/17)
The girls' varsity tennis team defeated Calvary Baptist on Monday to conclude their regular season and send off their three seniors on a high note. In singles action, the Furies captured five out of six matches to capture the team victory without the need of a doubles win. Senior Carolyn Ebeling finished her singles career in style with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win at the number five position. Fellow senior Lasley Cash rallied her way to one last singles victory as well, earning a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number three. At number one singles, senior Nicole Angell went down swinging in what may have been some of the best tennis she's played in her Fury tennis career. All three doubles teams and their seniors were able to capture wins as well to bring the final score to 8-1. The Furies will now await state tournament selections to see where they will begin play on Saturday.

Furies Tennis Over Wesleyan (10/4)
The varsity girls' tennis team defeated Wesleyan on Tuesday by a final score of 5-4. In their second meeting of the season, the Furies looked to bounce back from 6-3 loss they had suffered in their previous matchup. Starting with singles action Lasley Cash put the Furies on the board first with a 6-1,6-1 win at number three. At number five. Jo Joslin earned a 6-3, 6-4 win and Victoria Scarpa notched a 6-4, 6-2 win at number two. Up 3-2 with one singles match left to play, Kendal Jane Vaughn fought her way to an impressive third set victory, by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 11-9. With only doubles remaining, the Furies needed just one win to clinch the team victory. The number two team of Vaughn and Joslin answered the call by clinching the team victory with an 8-6 win. The Furies will be back in action on Thursday when they head to take on GDS for the second time this week.

Furies Tennis Over High Point Christian (9/26)
The girls' varsity tennis team got their second straight win on Tuesday, at High Point Christian Academy, by a final score of 7-2. Play began with singles where Victoria Scarpa got the Furies on the board first with an 8-1 win at number two. Nicole Angell followed with an 8-3 win at number one and Carolyn Ebeling and Jo Joslin were both 8-4 winners at numbers five and six respectively. Emoni Fitch then clinched the overall team win with her 8-6 win at the number four spot. After securing the necessary five wins to get the team victory, Joslin and K.J. Vaughn teamed up at number one doubles and added to the victory margin with an 8-6 win. Fitch and Anna McKeen teamed up to win 9-8 at number three doubles further extending the team's margin of victory. The Furies will be back in action on Friday when they take on Calvary Baptist away at 4 p.m.

Furies Tennis Over Covenant Day (9/20)
The varsity girls' tennis team capped an amazing comeback on Tuesday, to defeat Covenant Day School 5-4. With singles play first, the Furies had several close matches. It was Nicole Angell that got her team on the board first with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at number one. Covenant Day took the next four wins but then Lasley Cash rallied her way to 6-3, 6-3 win at number three that gave her team hope that they could sweep the doubles play to capture the team victory. At number three doubles, Cash teamed with Carolyn Ebeling and continued to keep the momentum in the Furies' court as they captured a convincing 8-1 victory. The number two team of KJ Vaughn and Jo Joslin followed form notching an 8-3 win and, just seconds later, the number one team of Angell and Victoria Scarpa completed the come from behind team win earning an 8-5 clinching victory. The team will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Reynolds, at home, starting at 4 p.m.

NRC Over Furies Tennis (8/30)
The FCDS varsity girls' tennis team lost to a deeper North Raleigh Christian team on Tuesday by a score of 8-1. The lone win on the day was provided by the number two doubles team of Victoria Scarpa and Kendall Jane Vaughn, by a score of 8-5. The Furies will be back in action next Tuesday when they take on Providence at home.

Furies Tennis Takes RJR (8/25)
The Fury varsity tennis team defeated cross-town rival Reynolds H.S. on Thursday, by a score of 6-3. In singles play, Lasley Cash and Victoria Scarpa captured quick wins at numbers three and two, followed by Carolyn Ebeling and Jo Joslin getting wins at five and six respectively. With a 4-2 edge heading into doubles play and needing just one more win to capture the team victory, the number one team of Angell and Scarpa and number three team of Joslin and Vaughn seemed to simultaneously clinch the win for the Furies with their respective victories. The Furies will be back in action on Friday when they take on Ravenscroft at home starting at 4 p.m.

The girls' varsity tennis team lost to Cannon School on Tuesday by a final score of
7-2. In singles action the Furies got a win from Victoria Scarpa at number two, 6-1, 6-2. Nicole Angell also battled to a three set victory at number one. The Furies will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to take on Reynolds.
